Al Lee and The Pineapple Express formed out of the snowbanks of Revelstoke, BC in January 2016 and they are gaining traction as one of the best new bands in the BC interior. They blend together rock n’ roll, reggae, the blues and funk into an uncompromising groove. For them, it’s all about getting their audience shakin’ it on the dance floor.
The band draws inspiration from great bands like the Allman Brothers, Santana, and The Black Keys but they add their own flavor. Lead singer, songwriter and guitarist AL Lee cites the inspiration of Mike Bloomfield, Duane Allman, Gary Clark Jr and Tommy Emmanuel who continue to help shape his guitar style. While Cam Lovett on bass and Jayme Wenzel on drums provide the solid groove as the rhythm section known as The Pineapple Express.
Al Lee and The Pineapple Express can mean many things to many people, a steam train, a powerful weather system, a potent strain of Mary Jane, and now a rockin’ band. Which ever is it, you’ll know when you’ve been hit.
