The Pineapple Express formed out of the snowbanks of Revelstoke, BC in January, 2016 and they are gaining traction as one of the best new bands in the BC interior. They blend together the blues, rock n’ roll and funk into an uncompromising groove. For them it’s all about getting their audience shakin’ it on the dance floor.
The band draws inspiration from great bands like the Allman Brothers, Santana and The Black Keys to name a few. Lead singer, songwriter and guitarist AL Lee gets cites the likes of Mike Bloomfield, T-Bone Walker, BB King, Duane Allman, Gary Clark Jr, Tommy Emmanuel and funk master Ross Bolton who continue to help shape his searing guitar style. His lyrical content is a mix between the metaphorical and literal but always clear in its message. The song topics range from personal battles with societal expectations, political and corporate greed, and of course love.
The Pineapple Express can mean many things to many people , a steam train, a powerful weather system, a potent strain of Mary Jane, and now rockin’ band. Which ever is it, you’ll know when you’ve been hit.
